In the bad news column – Canadians are doing less with the ANA because of the danger of attacks on ISAF personnel by the very people they are here to assist – the rising number of insider or “green on blue” attacks. In the good news category – Canadians are not needed as much as they used to be – the Afghan National Army is doing just fine without them for the most part. The challenge of finding Canadians mentoring is made much harder by a couple of factors. Our mission was to find Canadians doing some serious mentoring. Camp Blackhorse is one of a number of ISAF mentoring bases inside the Kabul Military Training Centre (KMTC), a 17,000-acre military facility – mostly desert and mountains.
